God's continued Plan and Provision
God continues to provide for us in ways that confirm to us that He is in control. We received a notification from one grant committee that said that they would not review our file yet because we did not have half of the money committed yet. The next day we were notified of Lifesong for Orphan's decision for a $3,000 interest free/payment free loan (until our adoption tax credit comes in!) That put us just over the top to be able to notify the first grant agency that we now, indeed, have half of the amount committed, just in time for their quarterly decision meetings.
In the meantime, we were able to get Hudson onto our insurance and his many doctor's visits and tests completed to get him ready for his enzyme treatments. The Shire Corporation helped to get Hudson's $8,000/per week treatments covered and all but $500 of co-pays covered, and NORD, (National Organization for Rare Diseases) is covering that $500 of co-pays, Hudson's portion of our health insurance, and maybe some Riley Children's Hospital Parking Passes soon!!!!
We are using part of the money from Lifesong to pay for our legal fees for finalization.
***June 13, 2011 update: We just received a letter in the mail from God's Grace Adoption Ministry informing us that we just received a matching grant for up to $2,500!!! When matched, that comes to 5,000, which is getting very close to the needed amount! Please pray that God brings the right people to donate to Hudson's adoption and that He would provide the remaining balance afterward! Praise the Lord for the end is as sure as the beginning!
***July 25, 2011 update: We were contacted by an organization connected with the MPS Society that expressed interest in helping us out considerably. Please pray that the Lord guides them as they make wise decisions and help those whom God is calling them to help.
***August 3, 2011 update 1: We have two people who have expressed interest in donating to the matching grant provided by God's Grace Adoption Ministry. That account is now set up and ready to accept funds. If you would like to donate to Hudson's adoption through this matching grant, please email [email protected] and we will send you a letter with specifics. Please pray that God will bring the people that HE wants to use to donate to this matching grant. We also ask that if you donate, that you would write a quick note to Hudson that we can save for him so that as he gets older and we tell him the story of how God provided for his adoption, that he will see God's hand in it the whole way.
***August 3, 2011 update 2: We just received news that another organization, Gift of Adoption, has approved a grant for 2,500!!! God is providing one piece at a time!
***Late August 2011: Early this morning we were at Hudson's infusion, and the girls were watching a movie, Hudson was napping, and I was praying. As I prayed, I continued to remind myself that God had this adoption thing under control, and I needed to be patient. A thought had occurred to me earlier that morning, however... we were getting late enough in the process of things that I perceived that God would not get as much glory for providing for Hudson's adoption if He did not do it "soon." I could see people saying, "Well, if you wait long enough, SOMETHING is bound to happen...." or worse. So I felt compelled, constantly keeping check of my motives, to pray that "soon" we would have the rest of the money for Hudson's adoption. Somehow, though I felt a little silly at the time, I thought to myself, "Just watch, and Joel will tell me later this afternoon that someone contacted him about taking care of the rest of the money!"
Well.... they did! As soon as I had gotten signal on my phone again (after being in the hospital), I had a voicemail from Joel to call him.... the Isabel foundation had just contacted him, and they wanted to provide the rest of the adoption expenses!
As of right now, the matching grant has received their check in full from the Isabel foundation, and are sending the money to Bethany. Bethany has also received a check from the Isabel foundation, and the last grant provider will be "invoiced" to signal for them to send the last amount. My little brother Brian's "tithe" check allowed us to file the next wave of paperwork for the courts, and everything is well on its way!
Praise our Lord, God, OUR Great Provider, and the Father to the fatherless!
The Isabel Foundation is a family that has an MPS III little girl, AND has adopted. Generally, they raise money to help families purchase what they need for quality of life for MPS III kiddos. They have also adopted, however, and when the MPS foundation (who have been working tirelessly on our behalf, to find funding for our adoption), contacted them about us, the Lord moved them to help in a way that is both humbling, needed, and just plain incredible. The more I learn about their family, the more humbled I am that God is using them in our lives. Hopefully someday we can be blessed to give back to them a portion of what they have given to us.
It is exciting to see how God pulls everything together, and how He leads clueless people (aka me) to pray according to His will. He didn't have to do that... but God used me to pray for my son in the right timing just so He could answer it and show just HOW in control He really is.... isn't He amazing????
You can keep checking back here for more information on how God provides for Hudson and his adoption... I'm sure it will be quite exciting to see just how God does it!
